# value fragility

The hypothesis that the human value of long-run outcomes can be highly sensitive to some omissions, distortions, or changes in the values or goal system shaping those outcomes, especially under strong optimization, so that getting important dimensions wrong can produce futures of very low value. It does not imply that every small perturbation destroys all value.
